Smallville returns this week

Smallville returns this week for its sixth season with a follow-up on last season’s cliffhanger – Zod has possessed Lex , who now has the same powers as Clark, who has been trapped in the Phantom Zone. Brainiac’s last act before returning Zod to Earth has been to disable all power on the planet, starting in Smallville, and quickly spreading everywhere.

Most immediately impacted are big cities like Metropolis, where panic immediately set in, resulting in rioting, looting and general pandemonium. Lana joined Lex/Zod on top of the LuthorCorp building in Metropolis and has pledged to stay by his side no matter what. Martha and Lois, in Lionel’s private plane en route to Washington have passed out due to lack of oxygen as the plane was also impacted by the power outage. What happens next?

Green Arrow takes aim at the Justice League on Smallville this season.

What we do know is that this season, two characters from the comics join the show as recurring characters – Jimmy Olsen, once referenced by Chloe, who had a fling with Jimmy during her first Daily Planet internship, and Oliver Queen, aka Green Arrow, a rich kid from Lex’s past, who soon discovers Clark’s secret and wants to start a league of heroes. Apparently, this will go well because producers have indicated that later in the season we will see a reunion of the previous super-powered visitors to Smallville – Aquaman, Flash and Cyborg, in an episode called “Justice.” Super!
